Project Ignition
Project Ignition is a student-led teen driver safety program powered by State Farm and coordinated by the National Youth Leadership Council. Car crashes remain the number one cause of death for teens. That’s a large number in statistics,so teens partner with their teachers and community, to work on change through Project Ignition.Each year Project Ignition supports high schools across the nation get the message against teens driving while being distracted by offering a $2,000 grant to support their campaign.Project ignition, State Farm and the National Youth Leadership Conference know that Teens can make a difference in teen driver safety.

When a driver recieves or sends a text their eyes are off the road for about 4.6 seconds Approximately 800,000 drivers text while at the wheel all across the United States It slows down the average persons brake reaction by 18% Leads to a 400% increase of off eyes the road 6 times more likely to cause an accident than drunk-driving The same as driving after drinking 4 beers Crash risk is four times higher when a driver uses a cell phone, whether or not it’s hands-free. |
